Childhood obesity is rapidly increasing throughout the United States. In just two decades, the prevalence of childhood obesity has doubled for children ages 6–11 and tripled for adolescents. The consequences are vast and overwhelming for a child and may include the following:

In response to this concerning reality, Children’s Center, with the financial support of The Gibney Family Foundation, developed the BALANCE program designed to create healthy lifestyles for youth struggling with weight issues.

BALANCE is open to youth, ages 11–18, who are overweight or obese, or at-risk of obesity and are interested in making lifestyle changes. BALANCE provides practical tools to live a healthier life, by improving long term health and reducing everyday stress.
