Friends of Children’s Center
Everybody could use a little help from their friends. That’s why the agency’s Board of Directors created Friends of Children’s Center — a group comprised of dedicated community volunteers that meet monthly to improve agency support of the families served.
There are two main goals of the Friends of Children’s Center:
- To raise awareness within the community of the agency’s mission and programs
- To raise funds that subsidize the cost of children’s mental health treatment
To achieve these goals, the Friends Group is committed to holding two major fundraising events per year as well target a specific need each month. Apart from raising funds, this group organizes food and toy drives over the holidays to assist families in need; provides school supplies and healthy snacks for children attending after-school appointments and assists with bulk mailing and other administrative tasks.
So far, this group, which is currently at 46 members, has raised over $400,000 for the agency. In 2007, the group raised over $100,000 and has pledged to increase this to $150,000 in 2008.
